IELTS One Skill Retake is a new way to give test takers confidence that they can reach their potential and showcase their full English language ability.
With IELTS One Skill Retake, you now have the option to retake any one section of the test (Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking) if you need to improve on one area (instead of retaking all four sections).
We know most test takers get the scores they need the first time, but if you feel you haven’t performed to your best in all areas, IELTS One Skill Retake can help to get you back on track.

When you can take IELTS One Skill Retake if:
- You have completed a full test at a center that offers One Skill Retake
- Your full test was an eligible IELTS on the computer test
- You sit your One Skill Retake within 60 days of your full IELTS test

Cancellations and Transfers OSR
A test taker is entitled to a full refund of the OSR test fee if they cancel 72 hours or more before the OSR test session. No refund is provided if a test taker fails to show for an OSR or if any given institution, organization, or government body does not recognize the OSR result. It is the test taker’s responsibility to check whether relevant bodies recognize OSRs.

IELTS One Skill Retake is currently available at IELTS on computer centers globally.
Test takers can retake any one skill of the IELTS test, whether it’s Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking. The format and timing of that IELTS One Skill Retake test are the same as that individual skill in a normal IELTS test; only it can save time by not needing to complete the other three skills.
You will need to check with the organization to which you plan on sending your IELTS results to see if they accept the IELTS One Skill Retake.
UK Visas and Immigration accept IELTS One Skill Retake, the Australian Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency, Immigration New Zealand, and an increasing number of universities and institutions each month. Test takers can determine whether their institution accepts One Skill Retake here.

No, you can only complete one retake for each full IELTS test.
No, only one section of the test can be retested for each full IELTS test. You cannot request a second IELTS One Skill Retake on the same test. If you wish to improve your IELTS score in more than one skill, you will need to book a complete IELTS test (all four skills).
No, you cannot rebook the IELTS One Skill Retake for a second time if you don’t get the result you wanted. You may request an Enquiry on Result if you would like your test remarked.
You may use either the Test Report Form and scores from your original four-skill IELTS test, or you can use your updated Test Report Form, which will include your updated IELTS One Skill Retake score. The original Test Report Form will continue to exist alongside your new IELTS One Skill Retake score, and both are valid.
