IELTS Speaking Test Video Series: FAQs

Is the Speaking test in the video a real IELTS exam?

No, it’s not an actual IELTS test. The video features a real person who speaks English as a second language, practicing with genuine IELTS-style questions. It’s a recreated test experience meant to help you understand what happens on test day.

No band score is given because this isn’t a real test. The video is a learning tool to help you prepare. If you want to see examples of real test performances with band scores, check out our YouTube channel.

The video uses real IELTS Speaking questions from all three parts, but it may not follow the exact test timing. For example, Part 3 only shows a short clip instead of the full section. The goal is to demonstrate helpful strategies to improve your own speaking performance.

Although official test centres don’t offer speaking practice tests, you can download free practice questions from our website. You can use them with a tutor or study partner. The IELTS by IDP app also offers a free trial of an IELTS preparation course by E2 Test Prep, with an option to upgrade for expert feedback.

You can visit the IELTS Prepare Hub, which offers a wide range of preparation tools — including practice questions, video lessons, articles, podcasts, online courses, and masterclasses.
