Cancellation, Refunds, and Transfers Policy
Applicable to: IELTS (IOC), UKVI IELTS (IOC), and IELTS Life Skills

Refund Policy
- If you cancel your IELTS test up to five weeks before the scheduled date, you will be entitled to a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee. No supporting documents or evidence are required in this case.
- If you cancel your IELTS test within five weeks before the test date, up to five days after the test date, and the cancellation is due to one of the following reasons, you will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee plus applicable tax.
- Serious illness or medical incident (e.g., hospital admission or major injury)
- Bereavement (loss of a close family member)
- Hardship or trauma (e.g., being a victim of crime or involved in a traffic accident)
- Military service
- Please note that supporting documentation or evidence is required for the reasons mentioned above. Refunds will not be granted for cancellations made within five weeks of the test date, except under these circumstances.
- Important Note: original Supporting documents must be submitted within five working days following the test date. Only original medical certificates in English are accepted. Sick notes issued by family members are not acceptable. Failure to submit required documentation within the specified time frame will result in being marked as absent, forfeiting any refund claims.
- Refunds may take 15 Working days to process from the date of application. Please be aware that Government Sales Tax is non-refundable.
- No refund if any of the subtests/module have been attended.
- No refund request will be entertained after 5 days from the test date.
Processing Time: Refunds will be processed within 15 working days from the date of application.
Decision Notification: The centre will inform the candidate within one week of the application whether the request has been approved.
Date Transfer Policy
- You may request to reschedule your IELTS test at least 35 calendar days before the original test date at no additional charge. No supporting documents are required for this request.
- If you need to reschedule within 35 calendar days of the test date, up to five days after the test date, due to serious illness, bereavement, hardship or trauma (e.g., being a victim of crime or traffic accident), or military service, an administration fee of 25% of the test fee plus applicable tax will apply. Supporting documentation or evidence is required for these reasons.
1. Eligibility for Date Transfer:
- No date transfer if any of the subtests have been attended.
- No date transfer request will be entertained after 5 days from the test date.
- Date transfer is allowed only once. (: If you are rescheduled to a new test date and become ill again, you will not be entitled to a refund of the test fee or any further rescheduling.)
- Please ensure that the new test date is scheduled within three months of the original test date.
2. Absentee Policy:
- Candidates marked absent on the test day will forfeit their full test fee.
Decision Notification: The centre will inform the candidate within one week of the application whether the request has been approved.
Exceptional Circumstance:
The centre may waive the administrative charge under exceptional circumstances.
We define exceptional circumstances as:
- Unavoidable legal or military obligation.
- Serious medical conditions preventing attendance or normal performance on the test day.
- Bereavement or significant hardship.
- Civil unrest or extreme weather conditions.

Test Transfers
Test takers can request a transfer of their IELTS test booking at any time before taking the test by notifying the test centre. All transfers are subject to availability and the rules outlined below.
- General Rule: A test booking cannot be transferred to a different test format, module, person, or test centre.
- 15 or more days before the Listening, Reading, and Writing test date: Free transfer is allowed.
- Within 5 to 14 days before the Listening, Reading, and Writing test date: Transfer is allowed, but an administrative fee of up to 25% of the paid test fee will be charged.
- Within 4 days of the Listening, Reading, and Writing test date: No transfer is allowed. Any transfer request during this period is treated as a cancellation.
Test Cancellations
Test takers can cancel their IELTS test booking at any time before taking the test by notifying the test centre. Refund eligibility and applicable administrative charges depend on when the cancellation is requested and whether exceptional circumstances apply.
- 15 or more days before the Listening, Reading, and Writing test date: Cancellation is allowed. Test takers can claim a refund of 75% of the paid test fee.
- Within 14 days of the Listening, Reading, and Writing test date: Cancellation is allowed, but the test fee is non-refundable.
